I’m a highly-skilled copywriter with 20+ years of experience across branding, marketing, design and journalism, in London and Miami.

Originally from the coast of North Carolina, I’ve lived in London since 1999 and am a dual citizen (US & UK). My entrepreneurial family – real estate, restaurants and retail – shaped my understanding of the work ethic, from rolling up my sleeves at age 10 as an assistant dishwasher in our waterfront restaurant to a hot summer of roofing after uni. Watching them launch new ventures gave me perspective on the hard graft, creative flair and passion required to build a new, meaningful and successful enterprise.

I spent several happy years in Miami, working in design in the fashion industry, at a non-profit org for the deaf (improving my ASL), then as Creative Director of a travel magazine for five years. As well as designing layouts and managing photo shoots (including at the Delano South Beach and in The Bahamas), I began to write ads, advertorials and features.

On a press trip to London, I met my future husband, and when I moved here permanently, in 1999, I acquired a role as Features Editor – along with a rather unusual outfit for our 18th-century-style wedding. I live in Zone 1 and thrive on the culture and dynamic buzz of the city.

I also care about the purpose of the copy, ensuring it matches a client’s needs and exceeds their expectations. What will the reader feel – and what actions can we prompt them to take? I craft highly polished copy that fits the brand, tone, concept and format, whether a digital ad campaign or printed brochure.

BRAND CONSULTANCY

With a design background and experience running a branding agency, I work with entrepreneurs to launch new brands or refresh existing brands. I design and write brochures and websites, or plan the look-and-feel, then hand over to an agency for launch.
